Shoot &Think is interested in the ways photographic images are produced, disseminated and employed, and their growing roles in public and political discourse. Images influence how people see themselves, how they act, what they buy. Images are gathered in huge datasets and classified to train artificial intelligence systems. Images play a key role in authoritarian regimes and increasingly also in democratic societies. Images enable surveillance and control. Their role in producing majorities can (de)stabilise democratic societies.
