Grotoni e Malocchi is a tribute to the sculptor Carlo Zauli by the artist Massimo Bartolini. The work has been displayed in the artist’s private studio. The publication is part of the work, with a text specifically written by the Italian writer Maurizio Maggiani. The title of the installation is taken directly from the text. The words ‘Grotoni’ and ‘Malocchi’ are untranslatable in English, though they refer to components of ploughed earth; the Grotoni being dry clods, the Malocchi wet. To retain this differential state the artist requires the devotional act of watering the work every day. The publication merges the two languages: the story told through words, and the materiality of the earth, folded as a photograph in the poster.
Bilingual edition in Italian and English.
